Head and Neck Cancer
Cancers of the face and mouth often require complex excisions and reconstructions to minimise the effects of surgery on eating, speaking and visible scarring. Treatment of these cancers are often dealt with in a multidisciplinary environment in which specialists with expertise in different aspects of patient care help to treat patients in an holistic manner. The specialists who are part of the head and neck team at Canniesburn include: head and neck plastic and reconstructive surgeons, ear nose and throat surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, clinical oncologists, specialists in palliative care, speech therapists, dieticians, clinical nurse specialists, experienced ward nurses, a highly skilled operating theatre team and junior doctors including research fellows and trainees in all the medical and surgical specialties.
